ARTETA CONFIDENT OVER AUBAMEYANG RENEWAL

Mikel Arteta has revealed he is feeling positive about the prospect of club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang extending his contract with the club. The Gabonese international has been on the spotlight over his contract situation with the club.

Aubameyang, 30, has 12 months left on his current deal, which is due to expire at the end 2020-2021 season. Reports surrounding the Gabon international star have been rife, with reports suggesting he could be set to depart the Emirates this summer.

Aubameyang is far from short of potential suitors, reports claim that Arsenal are considering a £20m sale, if the former Dortmund star refuses to sign new terms in the imminent future.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are the clubs leading the race to sign the Arsenal poacher. Madrid have indicated their interest in the player as the club see him as competition for Karim Benzema. Madrid signed Luka Jovic last summer to serve as understudy to the Frenchman but the Serbia international has failed to impress since making the move from Germany.

Barca are also in the market for an established star to replace the ageing Luis Suarez. The Blaugrana are monitoring the contract situation of the player. Aubameyang recently confirmed that nothing concrete with Arsenal has been reached. However, Manager Arteta has now claimed that the club are continuing to hold talks with the forward and that he is confident a deal can be struck between the two parties.

The Spaniard stated that he is confident that the club will try and do all they can to tie the captain to a longer deal. He revealed that Aubameyang loves the club and he believe the club is heading towards the right direction.
