FA are set to withdraw certain delegates from the Serbian Olympic Committee. Top sport in Serbia could enter a serious crisis should certain Serbian Football Association officials’ intentions come to fruition, as they are advocating for a complete break off in the relationship with the Serbian Olympic Committee. The reason behind the proposal is the criticism and accusations SOC president Vlade Divac has directed at FA officials, while the initiative is to be started during Thursday’s meeting of the FA Executive Committee.

GHANA TURNS TO SERBIA

Ghana once again turned to Serbian football to get coaches for them. Rajevac quit in September when his two-year contract finished, having taken the African team to the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time in South Africa last year.

The 44-year-old Stevanovic, previously head coach of Partizan Belgrade in his native country and assistant with Serbia and Montenegro from 2003-06, will be unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday.

VIDIC WANTS ENGLAND MATCH

Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic has revealed that he would love to play against Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney at the World Cup this summer.

Rooney’s England could play Serbia in the round of 16 in South Africa, a match-up that Vidic, who has earned 44 caps for his country, would enjoy very much.

“I have mentioned to him that, if we go through from our tough group against Germany, Ghana and Australia, we have a chance of meeting England,” Vidic told The Express.

SERBIA TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST HOOLIGANS

Serbia are desperate to end football hooliganism in their country. Platini threatened to expel Serbian clubs and the national team from all European competitions unless Belgrade stopped football hooligans and violence at stadiums.

The response was quick — a special police unit was formed that will suppress hooligan violence.

PETROVIC BELIEVES IN FINAL

Serbia senior coach Vladimir Petrovic will be a keen spectator at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in his homeland from Tuesday and the former Yugoslavia midfielder only wishes he could have had such an opportunity.

Petrovic helped make the finals draw in Belgrade, matching his nation with Denmark, France and holders England. It is the first such competition organised by the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) and Petrovic is delighted it is beginning.

FOOTBALL FANS JAILED

Serbia football fans has jailed for the Brice Taton murder. Brice Taton, 28, was attacked in a bar ahead of a Europa League match between Partizan Belgrade and Toulouse.

The longest prison sentences – 35 and 32 years – were imposed in absentia on two ringleaders who remain at large­.

Two men were given 30-year prison terms. The other defendants received 12 to 14-year sentences.

Mr Taton sustained head and chest injuries when French fans were attacked in the central Belgrade bar by a 30-strong group of men armed with iron bars and baseball bats in September 2009.

Serbia has jailed 14 football hooligans for their murder of a fan in 2009. Brice Taton, 28, was attacked in a bar ahead of a Europa League match between Partizan Belgrade and Toulouse.

The longest prison sentences – 35 and 32 years – were imposed in absentia on two ringleaders who remain at large­.

Two men were given 30-year prison terms. The other defendants received 12 to 14-year sentences.
