The Republic of Ireland have recalled six players ahead of the encounter against Oman and Serbia, the BBC reports.

The squad list would see many common names, aside six players who missed out on participating for Ireland in the Euro 2016 games in France.

Manager of the Republic side Martin O’Neill recalled Paul McShane, David Forde, Eunan O’Kane, Marc Wilson, Callum O’Dowda and Harry Arter. The Republic of Ireland take on their European counterpart Serbia in Belgrade next month, to get a chance to play in the coming World Cup in Russia in 2018; hence, the friendly game against Oman in Dublin.

Robbie Keane, record goal scorer for the Republic would be in action when they play Oman, with his retirement staring at him in the face. O’Neil would not be taking any chance in adding uncapped players in the squad for both games.

Blackburn player Shane Duffy would not be in action as he got a red card in the loss in the Round of 16 games against France at the Euro 2016. He wouldn’t even feature when Republic take on Oman at the Aviva stadium.

O’Neill would be taking a gamble as he included three injured players in Seamus Coleman, Jeff Hendrick and John O’Shea. Coleman has been out for two weeks due to an ankle injury. He has missed games for Everton but the manager added him anyways. Also, Hendrick has been out for two weeks due to hamstring injury. He is set to miss his club’s fixture against Burton Albion on Friday. O’Shea was pulled off the game when Sunderland lost to Boro due to groin injury.

Keane will lead the attack, playing along with Stoke’s Jon Walters, Shane Long of Southampton with Daryl Murphy available. Following Shay Given’s retirement, Millwall’s David Force would be in action. There’s the option of Darren Randolph and Keiren Westwood.
