DRULOVIC TAKES OVER

Serbia have decided to appoint former winger Ljubinko Drulovic as acting coach for the upcoming friendly match against Ireland. This is one of the important matches for the team as they prepare for the European Championship qualifying, which will begin in September of this year.

Serbia will be looking to qualify for Euro 2016 without fail especially after having missed out on the World Cup 2014. Ireland are also in a similar position and they will be giving a lot of importance to this match especially after the appointment of Martin O’Neill as their new manager.

Serbia will be looking to qualify for Euro 2016 without fail especially after having missed out on the World Cup 2014. Ireland are also in a similar position and they will be giving a lot of importance to this match especially after the appointment of Martin O’Neill as their new manager.

The Serbian national football Association confirmed the news on their official site. Drulovic represented the former Yugoslavian football team during his playing days. At club level, he represented the likes of Porto and Benfica. He was hugely successful at both clubs after managing to win several league titles and cups. He has been going through several unsuccessful managerial jobs before taking the Serbian under 19 team to success at the recently held European Championships. This has made him visible in the eyes of the Serbian national football team.

Serbia looked to bring back former manager Sinisa Mihajlovic, but he has decided to go down the club football road after taking the managerial job at Sampdoria.
“The Serbian Football Association (FSS) has appointed Drulovic as acting coach until a permanent one is named, most probably in late April or early May. This is the best possible solution because Drulovic has earned his chance after achieving the historic success of winning the European under-19 title last year,” read a statement on the official site of the club. Drulovic was a former winger, who scored three goals in 38 international appearances.
After a couple of low-key friendly matches, Serbia will play against World Cup favourites Brazil in June.
