Mihajlovic has also admitted that he was extremely close to securing the job as the manager of Inter Milan in the past, but had to not take up the offer. However, he does not have any regrets about how things panned out.

Even though he is currently in charge of the Serbian national team, Mihajlovic is no stranger to the club football after being in charge of the Italian club Bologna back in 2008. Since leaving Bologna, he has managed clubs like Catania and Fiorentina. Hence, he has a wealth of knowledge about Italian football. Inter appointed the current manager Andrea Stramaccioni almost a year ago.

“I was close to the Nerazzurri bench in the past, something didn’t quite click, but I’m still happy with how things turned out. I do hope to train Inter one day though as that would be a dream for me – it would be the pinnacle of my career,” said the Serbian national team manager. Inter Milan are currently fighting to finish in the top three positions, which will provide them Champions league football next season. The club already missed out on the opportunity to take part in this competition this season.
