Moldova Fans Banned from Attending Match against Serbia

 

An international soccer match is going to be held in Moldova and it will be played in an empty stadium amidst concerns over the alleged Russian plot for overthrowing the government. But Moldova has been banned from attending the football match against Serbia’s team, according to the football authority of the country. The statement had been made after the president of Moldova warned that saboteurs from Serbia can be a part of the alleged Kremlin plot for overthrowing the government.

According to the Moldovan Football Federation, it had been informed by the authorities of the Republican of Moldova regarding the impossibility of letting fans attend the 16th February match in Chisinau between FK Partisan of Belgrade and FC Sheriff of Tiraspol. The federation made a statement that it is going to let fans receive refunds on the tickets they have got. However, they didn’t explain the move. SERBIA SEAL LEAGUE A SPOT

Serbia booked their place in League A following the away win over Norway in Group B4 on Tuesday. The Serbians came into the game needing to beat group leaders Norway to usurp them and secure promotion from League B to League A. In the end, they were able to secure the needed result via a 2-0 scoreline.

The Serbians came into this month’s set of UEFA Nations League games in Group B4 with the knowledge that only two wins from the final two games will give them the chance of making it to League A from League B and they were able to achieve the target. MANCHESTER UNITED MAKE SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC TRANSFER CALL AMID DE JONG SAGA

MATIC CHANGES SHIRT NUMBER AT ROMA

Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic has changed his shirt number at Italian Serie A side AS Roma following the arrival of Paolo Dybalathis week. Dybala is the latest signing at AS Roma after his transfer was confirmed on Wednesday. The petite Argentine attacker has taken the jersey number 21 at Roma following his arrival on a free transfer. Serbia international Matic was the recipient of the number 21 jersey before the arrival of former Palermo star Dybala.Serbia star Matic has taken the number eight jersey at Roma after Dybala took the number he was given when he completed a free transfer move to Roma this summer.


Matic is a new player at AS Roma after he left Premier League team Manchester United at the end of his contract last month. The Serbia international signed for the reigning UEFA Europa Conference League winners as a free agent this summer. Matic was one of several exits at Manchester United this summer. Apart from Matic, the likes of Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Manuel Mata and Paul Pogba also left the Red Devils at the end of their respective Manchester United contracts. SERBIA LOSE GROUNDS ON LEADERS NORWAY

World Cup 2022 participants Serbia have lost grounds on Group B4 leaders Norway in the UEFA Nations League after they lost a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw with home team Slovenia during the fourth round of matches in the group. Sweden are the other team in the group.


The Serbians raced into a two-goal lead in the first half of the game against bottom team Slovenia at the Stozice Stadium in Ljubjana. AndrijaZivkovicsvored the opener goal for Serbia in the eighth minute before Fulham striker AleksandarMitrovicdoubled the lead for his second goal in the current UEFA Nations League campaign. The goal from Mitrovic ensured that Serbia went into the break with a comfortable lead. The Slovenians were handed a massive lifeline three minutes after the break when Adam GnezdaCerin pulled a goal back before Benjamin Sesko scored the equaliser five minutes later. MATIC SUBBED OFF AGAINST BRIGHTON

Serbia international NemanjaMatic was subbed off at the start of the second half of the big defeat to hosts Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League. The Serbia national team midfielder was given a start for the game in the middle of the park by interim Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnickalongside Scottish international Scott McTominay.


Manchester United didn’t make the best of starts to their League clash with the Seagulls on Saturday courtesy the strike from Ecuadorians midfielder Moises Caicedo on 15 minutes. His goal was the difference between the two sides at the half-time interval. Serbia international Matic was replaced at the interval by Uruguayan striker EdinsonCavani, but the change didn’t work as Manchester United went on to concede three goals in the second half. It was one of two changes made by Rangnick at the start of the second half with Brazil international Fred coming on for young Swedish forward Anthony Elanga as well. MITROVIC SCORES AS FULHAM SECURE PROMOTION

Serbia international Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice as Fulham secured promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The Serbia national team star has spearheaded the Premier League promotion quest at Fulham and he scored twice in the 3-0 home win over Preston North End in an English Championship rescheduled clash played on Tuesday to ensure that the promotion target was met. With the two goals against Preston, the Serbia international striker was also able to hit the 40-goal mark for the first time in his career.

Fulham came into the Preston game with the knowledge that a win will take them back to the top tier of club football in England ahead of next season and they were able to secure the win. The Cottagers were able to secure Premier League promotion with three English Championship games left in the regular season though Fulham have an extra game in hand over the majority of the teams in the division. JOTA ON TARGET AGAINST TURKEY

In-form Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota was on song as he helped Portugal see off Turkey in their playoff tie for the World Cup 2022 tournament. Portugal and Turkey met each other in a one-legged playoff at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, Portugal to determine the team that will face the winner of the playoff tie between hosts Italy and North Macedonia for a place at the World Cup tournament later in the year.


Portugal manager Fernando Santos has a star-studded squad at his disposal, but he was unable to secure automatic qualification for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament from a relatively easy group. Portugal were drawn with teams such as Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan in Group A of the European qualifiers for the upcoming World Cup tournament. ITALY: JUVENTUS CONFIRM VLAHOVIC TRANSFER

Immediate past Italian champions Juventus have confirmed the signing of Serbia international DusanVlahovic from fellow Italian Serie A team Fiorentina. The big-money signing was made official on Friday.

Juventus will pay a fee of £58m plus £8m in add-ons for the Serbian striker who also attracted interest from three Premier League teams. The Premier League trio of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were also keen on signing Vlahovic, but the preference of the player was to stay in the Italian top flight. He had 18 months left on his Fiorentina contract. North London giants Arsenal were the most interested of the three English teams, but he snubbed them to sign for the Old Lady.

Serbia international Vlahovic moved from Fiorentina to Juventus on the occasion of his 22nd birthday. He has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Old Lady. Vlahovic has been one of the best strikers in the Italian top flight since the start of last season and he has scored 20 goals in all competitions for Fiorentina this season. This is in addition to him playing a big part in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers for his nation. Vlahovic scored in the wins over Azerbaijan and Luxembourg as Serbia finished at the top of Group A ahead of favourites Portugal to seal their place in Qatar 2022. The Serbians secured their place in Qatar thanks to the 2-1 away win over Portugal in the final group game for the two teams.

CHAMPIONSHIP: MITROVIC CONTINUES RED-HOT FORM

Fulham striker AleksandarMitrovic has been one of the most in-form players in European football this season and he showed his quality once again to propel the Cottagers to the top of the English Championship. He scored the opening goal of the game as Fulham thrashed struggling Barnsley 4-1 at home to take the Championship summit from previous leaders Bournemouth.

The Serbia international is the leading goalscorer in the Championship, the second tier of club football in England.
